Standard letters, which previously cost 85 cents, could cost up to 1 euro in the future, which corresponds to an increase of approximately 10.5%. The German Federal Network Agency justified the price adjustment by stating that the volume of parcels sent by private customers has fallen by 7% and by 3% for business customers. This price increase should help to cover the fixed costs of the logistics infrastructure despite the lower volume.
